The Ungrateful Servant

Most of us pray when things go wrong. At least those of us who are believers pray when faced with a major calamity.  The non-believers find the nearest bridge….

When faced with desolation and despondency and we can’t seem to see the slightest flicker of light at the end of the tunnel, what do we do? We prostrate in prayer and seek divine help.

We remember Allah SWT.  We call out to HIM for help. Only HE can help us. The Beneficent, The Most Merciful.

When we have our health, happiness, love, peace and prosperity do we prostrate and turn to Allah in gratitude?

Let us be honest.  How many of us remember to give thanks when the going is good? My hand is down. Guilty!

When we have everything our heart desires, do we thank the ONE who gave us these things? The ONE who made everything possible? Do we take a minute to say Alhamdulillah?

If someone gives us something no matter how small, or does us a favour, we thank them.

Even when we sneeze and a stranger blesses us, we say ‘thank you’ It’s polite to thank others for their kindness.

When the Almighty Allah does something for us, which is every nanosecond of the day, we forget to thank him!

Therefore remember Me (by praying, glorifying). I will remember you, and be grateful to Me (for My countless favours on you) and never be ungrateful to Me” [2:152]

We take HIM for granted.  It would be rude not to thank the stranger who blessed us when we sneezed yet it’s o.k not to thank Allah for his countless blessings!

I have so many blessings and I know you do too.  Let us not be ungrateful for them.

Let us remember to show gratitude and thank Allah SWT for every blessing HE bestows and has bestowed upon us.
